Once you have made a reservation and paid the initial fee, we will send you an admission letter. Before attending your visa appointment, we recommend that you pay the full course amount, as your visa may not be granted otherwise.
You should apply for a student visa at least two months before your arrival in Spain. Your application may take up to 6 weeks to process.
Yes, it is possible. The requirement for a student visa is to enroll in at least 20 sessions of classes per week (or 80 sessions per month).
If the student's visa is refused, the school will charge 150€ and refund the remaining amount once we receive an original VISA refusal letter from the Embassy; otherwise, no refund will be given. FU International Academy can take no responsibility if the visa application is rejected.
Our school is accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, making our intensive courses valid for your student visa application.
Upon receiving your booking, we will send you a confirmation and an invoice for the language course and accommodation. At that time, you should pay 100% of the invoice amount. We will send you the course admission letter for the Spanish Embassy or Consulate once the invoice has been fully paid.

To ensure a place on the Spanish course, book as soon as possible. Last-minute bookings are accepted until Friday 12:00 p.m.
Beginner courses are offered twice a month. Depending on the number of lessons per week, we offer Intensive 20h or 30 language courses. There are different levels for each course type, ranging from beginners A1 to proficiency C2. A1 - beginners level can be booked for a minimum of 1 week, so you can book 2, 3 or even more weeks.
You can add as many courses as you want and also activities such as surfing. The registration fee will only be charged once and is valid for life.
Students who have booked an Intensive Course cannot postpone it. Individual lessons will be rescheduled.

UE means “Unterrichtseinheit” in German, “teaching units” in English.

You can bring a friend to the salsa lesson, yoga class, the Botanical Garden visit, and beach volleyball. Trial surf lessons are dependent on the number of participants.

There is an additional charge for the trial surf lesson and weekend excursions.
There’s a gym in our building that offers special fees to our students. Once you have arrived, you can visit the gym and decide if you want to sign up.
We offer welcome breakfast every Monday, farewell every Friday, a visit to the Botanical Garden, salsa/bachata class, yoga class, surf, Spanish culture class, and beach volleyball. Sometimes we have more extra activities like excursions, wine tasting, or language exchanges (depending on the week). You will have updated information on Mondays.
Shared apartments are only available with self-catering.
Homestays include breakfast, half board, or full board depending on your booking.

Puerto de la Cruz has meeting points where you can pick up the key if you arrive on your own.

Each apartment can accommodate up to four students.

Students under 18 years are required to stay with a host family or organize their own accommodation.
Check-in is on Sundays, however extra nights can be booked on request.
It is recommended that groups stay in hotels or aparthotels where two or three students will share the same studio.
People who choose to live in a SHARED FLAT should be adaptable and prepared to live with people from different cultures, nationalities, and backgrounds.
Each tenant is responsible for keeping the apartment clean and tidy. It is expected that all tenants will respect each other and clean the kitchen and bathroom after using them.
All common areas will be cleaned once a week by the school, but you are responsible for cleaning your room.
In a shared flat, you are responsible for cooking for yourself, since catering is only available when staying with a host family. We recommend staying with a host family if you wish to train your Spanish after school, too. You might want to consider renting a shared apartment if you need a bit more privacy and independence.

The minimum age to participate in the intensive group courses is 16 years. Younger students can participate with their families or take private lessons.
If students under 16 want to enroll in a class on their own, only host family accommodation is possible and parents or tutors must sign our parental consent when booking the program. No prior knowledge of Spanish is needed.
There are students of all ages at our school, ranging from 18 to 70 years old. The number of young students increases during the summer because they tend to take courses during school breaks.
The lovely natural beach Playa Martiánez is within 18-minute walking distance from school and Playa Jardín is a 32-minute walk, while Playa El Bollullo is around 40 minutes away, but it would be a nice hike through the banana plantations.
The school is situated in the La Paz district, just across the street from the Botanical Garden. There are bars, restaurants and supermarkets nearby the school. The area is well connected by bus, the bus stop Jardín Botánico is just in front of the school.
The school’s reception is open from Monday to Friday from 08:45 until 16:00h.
We gained a lot of experience since we opened in 2000, and in 2005 we became an Instituto Cervantes accredited school. Some of our teachers have been teaching for a minimum of six years. It's a very familiar atmosphere because our school is independent, it's not part of a big corporation. Many of our students return for another course after taking one with us.
The homework book (grammar and exercises) is included in the course price. The textbook can be lent with a refundable deposit of 20 EUR or bought for the same price.

Our courses start every Monday for all levels that have students during that week except for beginners. Beginner courses start on the first and third Monday of each month.

If you are an absolute beginner and want to learn a level that lets you understand and speak in everyday situations, you may need to take A1 and A2 course level, which takes 9 weeks of an intensive course in total.

The difficulty of the exam is always adequate for the level you have signed up for. In our DELE preparation classes, our teachers will prepare you very well for the exam.

You have to book a minimum of 10 private lessons, up to as many as you like. You can choose how many lessons you want to do per week.
One lesson takes 45 min, but each session can consist of more than one lesson.
We use “Socios 1 and 2” and “Expertos” for the Business lessons.
We use a grammar book called Vente A1, Vente A2, Vente 2 (B1), Vente 3 (B2), C de C1, and Nuevo prisma C2. Additionally, teachers have additional resources they use to explain or practice material.
You will be working with “Edelsa DELE preparación al Diploma de Español” (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 depending on your level).
We use the book “Turismo (Sgel)” and also our own material.
The content of the courses depends on the level, but all classes focus on improving the fluency of speaking, listening, reading and writing Spanish. Every Monday your teacher will explain the content and all the topics you will be taught during the week.

If only one or two students have enrolled in a group course, the course will still take place. However, we will reduce the teaching time to 75% (two students) or 50% (one student). Courses may start in the morning or in the afternoon. FUIA reserves the right to schedule the lessons at the most suitable time. This also applies to individual lessons.
The registration fee is an organisation fee. The registration fee has to be paid only once in a lifetime.
The general Spanish course’s main goal is to improve fluency, focusing on speaking, listening, reading and writing Spanish.
This Business course is designed to teach you to communicate effectively in Spanish in professional contexts. You will expand your Spanish vocabulary, improve your ability to write and speak in Spanish in both social and professional interactions, and learn terminology and skills that you can apply at business negotiations, telephone conversations, written reports and emails, and professional presentations.
The general Spanish course’s main goal is to improve fluency, focusing on speaking, listening, reading and writing Spanish.
The Tourism and Hospitality course focuses on specific vocabulary and communication skills related to the various fields within the tourism and hospitality industry such as hotels, travel agencies and car rental services.
The difference between the courses is that in Super-Intensive 30 you will have more time to study. The additional 10 sessions focus on conversation and you will receive an “in-depth study” of the content learned before.

The main goal of the Spanish course is to improve fluency focusing on speaking, listening, reading and writing in Spanish.
Usually, the group courses start at 09:00h, however, the time depends on how many students we have for a certain group. If we have to reduce the teaching time, the course may start later.
Intensive 20 – 09:00h until 12:15h.
Super-Intensive 30 – 09:00h until 14:00h.
Please note that the teaching time will be reduced if there are less than 3 students in one class.

We always recommend you to ask your employer for permission for the educational leave at least 3 months before the course starts. Once you have pre-booked your course, you will receive a confirmation of your course reservation for your employer.
In the private classes, we will use the same books and materials as in the group classes, but you will be the one who sets the pace at which we advance. If you prefer to focus on conversation or you have other topics or content you would like to work on, these are the perfect classes to do so. We will adapt the classes to your needs and what you would like to learn. Remember that if these classes are a complement to an Intensive 20 or Intensive 30 you will not be able to advance the contents of your intensive course-level planning.
The classes that take place during the weeks that have one holiday will not be made up. You will receive a discount for that week. In the event that two public holidays fall in the same week, the classes corresponding to one of the days will be recovered during the same week.
If there is a public holiday on a Monday the course begins on Tuesday.
