100 Square Moons
The Museum of Science and the Cosmos is hosting an exhibition organized by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), consisting of nine backlit panels which show images obtained by the astrograph Sky Treasure Chest (STC) of the IAC Science Communication and Outreach Unit (UC3) at the Teide Observatory.
The exhibition was designed as a tribute to photography, which has enabled astronomers to multiply the data obtained with telescopes. The photographs shown are ten times the apparent size of the Moon, used as the unit of measurement. They have been grouped under different titles: Exoplanetary Systems, Star Cradles, Young Stars, Cosmic Fossils, Planetary Nebulae, Stellar Remnants, Island Universes, Galaxy Groups, and Galaxy Clusters.
